Bodybuilder Helps Boyfriend Train For His First Physics Show
Brittany Watts, aka Brittany Flex, has competed in the women’s categories at the world’s most prestigious bodybuilding events, including Olympia Women’s Physique. But while fitness is his passion, in an episode of the web series Truly Miami muscle, she talks about how she experienced an array of gender double standards in the bodybuilding world.
On the one hand, the prize money for a female physique show could be in the range of $ 50,000, while the prize for men can reach $ 750,000. Brittany goes on to explain that female contestants also face higher personal expenses simply because of the expectations surrounding how they present themselves on stage.
“The entertainment expenses a woman has, hair, makeup, tan, costume, shoes, you can spend $ 500 on your hair alone, then on nails … Women can easily spend $ 4,000. $, ”She said. Male bodybuilders, on the other hand, only have to pay for shorts and a tan, she adds. But even though competitions may be flawed, she is still dedicated to perfecting her physique and securing the highest accolades.
In addition to pursuing her own goals, Brittany reveals that she is also helping her boyfriend, Julio Herrera, prepare for his first physics competition. “For me and Julio, I’m not his coach, we both have a coach, thank goodness,” she explains. “But we support each other a lot, we train together, we eat together, we cook together.”
Julio’s training began almost a year before the Ruby Classic, where he would make his debut, during which time he lost 85 pounds. “He looks amazing,” Brittany says. “He’s come this far, and he’s going to go so far.”
His faith is well placed; after the shooting of Miami muscle, Julio won the light heavyweight class event at the 2020 Ruby Classic and was crowned the winner of that year’s competition.
