Cleveland State cancels next 2 men’s basketball games due to COVID case

CLEVELAND (WJW) – Due to the appearance of positive coronavirus cases in the program, the Cleveland State University men’s basketball team is taking a break from all activities.
The move complies with current NCAA COVID-19 security protocols.
This means the school’s next two games – the Duke University game on December 18 and the Kent State University game on December 21 – are called off.
âAfter consultation with our coaching staff and the Cleveland Clinic Sports Health Center, we are suspending team activity and will re-evaluate in 10 days,â CSU athletic director Scott Garrett said in a statement. . “Although we are disappointed, it is clear that this is the responsible course of action.”
Garrett stressed that the team have worked hard to follow all safety protocols during the season.
The upcoming Viking Road clashes at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis on December 30 and at the University of Illinois Chicago on January 1 are still on the table.
