‘Distinguished’ gentlemen in dapper duds drove through Bay Area to call attention to men’s health issues

TAMPA, Florida – On Sunday, the streets of the Bay Area were filled with hundreds of men, dressed in new clothes, on motorcycles. It was all part of the âDistinguished Gentleman’s Rideâ which strives to raise awareness of the health issues facing men.
The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride has two main rules, smart attire is required and riders must ride their vintage bikes.
With over 200 bikes and their fancy outfits, the group is hard to miss. The âDistinguished Gentleman’s Rideâ raises awareness of men’s health, especially on topics that men often don’t talk about.
âWe’ve partnered with the Movember Foundation, and we’re focused on prostate cancer and suicide prevention in men. These are the two main diseases we are trying to raise awareness about. It’s a big problem in the world today, and I think it hasn’t been brought to the fore in recent years, so we’re trying to help do it, âsaid Herm Narciso, the race coordinator.
However, it is not just a local effort. Men from all over the world have joined this community, finding and restoring vintage bikes and ultimately using them to help create change.
âWe travel through 107 countries, over 350 cities around the world on vintage, stylishly dressed motorcycles,â Narciso said. “We are doing everything to raise awareness of men’s health.”
