New Delhi: Male sexual dysfunction issues like erectile dysfunction, low libido, etc., affect men’s performance in bed and are a cause of unsatisfactory sexual experience. But due to the notion of masculinity and the taboo surrounding admitting a problem to bed, many men are unable to seek professional help, which can make the problem worse. Male sexual dysfunction is a common health problem affecting men of all ages, but it becomes more common with age. Dr Vineet Malhotra, Clinical Director – Specialist in Urology, Andrology and Men’s Health at Diyos Hospital in Delhi, shares common sexual dysfunctions that men suffer from.

Some of them are:

Premature ejaculation

Perhaps the most common sexual problem that men suffer from during sex. Premature ejaculation is a condition in which a man ejaculates rapidly (usually less than a minute) after sexual stimulation, leaving partners sexually unhappy and dissatisfied. According to a recent study, premature ejaculation (or premature ejaculation) affects nearly 30% of men around the world.

Extreme stress, depression, conflict in relationships, or being overly enthusiastic about sex are likely causes of premature ejaculation.

Dyserection

Impotence, or the inability to get or maintain an erection, is a sexual condition in which a man cannot achieve or maintain an erection for a long period of time. Some of the reasons that can cause erectile dysfunction include aging, nervous disorders, diabetes, etc.

Low libido (reduced sexual desire)

Low libido is basically a lack of interest in sexual activity. You can experience highs and lows related to libido during your lifetime. Low libido for an extended period can be a concern for many people. Factors that could affect low libido are low testosterone levels and certain medications like antidepressants and drugs related to cancer treatment.

Testosterone deficiency

Men over 50 have low testosterone levels. Few of the symptoms that can be observed are fatigue, low sexual desire, decrease in muscle mass, development of breast tissue, erectile dysfunction, etc. A deficiency of testosterone hormone can cause various sexual dysfunctions and physical problems in men.

TIPS FOR MANAGING SEXUAL DYSFUNCTION IN MEN

Having said that, these sexual problems in men can be corrected by treating the underlying causes. Dr Malhotra shares some tips that can help men overcome their sexual problems and live happy and satisfied lives.

Adopt a healthy lifestyle and exercise regularly: In order to increase your sperm count or fertility, start exercising regularly and try to stay in shape by eating healthy foods as it is crucial to exercise and stay in shape and aim for a healthy weight to increase your fertility. Exercise not only improves your mood, but improves immune function and increases feel-good endorphins and positive hormones which are very essential for a better sex life.

Add antioxidants to your diet: Antioxidants not only protect against heart disease and cancer, but they also help men become more fertile. Try to include the antioxidants below in your daily diet:

– Zinc – Oysters, crabs, red meat, beans

– Vitamin C – Papaya, Berries, Citrus

– Selenium – Tuna, Chicken, Cod, Beef

Stop smoking: It is highly recommended that you quit smoking to increase your fertility as smoking has an impact on your fertility, the quality of your sperm as it reduces sperm count, slows down sperm motility and decreases sperm quality.

Reduce your alcohol consumption: Try to reduce your alcohol intake as it affects the quality of your semen and leads to sexual problems.

Minimize your stress level: Stress is the main cause leading to metabolic diseases resulting in low libido, low sperm count, erectile function problems. Men over 45 have low testosterone levels.

If all of the general treatments and remedies do not help you cope with the above problems, it is always advisable to see your sex therapist who can diagnose your problem and customize a medical plan for you.
