Julian Edelman listed on New England Patriots’ first injury report with knee injury
The season has not yet started and Julien edelman is already struggling with an injury.
The wide receiver was one of five Patriots listed on the first injury report of the season with a knee injury. Edelman was limited to training on Wednesday, with Gunner Olszewski (foot) and Chase Winovich (shoulder).
Yodny Cajuste (knee) and Cassh Maluia (knee) did not participate at all, although the rookie linebacker was working on a stationary bike during the media window at the start of practice.
With Mohamed Sanu dumped and the extremely young squad at the close end, Edelman’s presence in the Patriots’ offense is as big as it ever was. The veteran was given a significantly lighter workload than usual this summer. There were days at training camp where he was very limited in training, and a session where he was not on the field at all.
Edelman admitted it had been an adjustment for him.
“Ah, yeah, that’s right,” Edelman said on a video conference last week. “I played here, it’s my 12th year. This is the first time I’ve really done this.
He declined to say if there was a specific reason for the way he was treated, but this injury report certainly offers clearer insight into it.
“We’re not talking about health here,” Edelman said. “I don’t even know if I can… So, I don’t want to, you know… we don’t talk about that.”
The Dolphins are already a little stoned too.
They had six limited players on Wednesday, including stars Byron Jones (achilles) and DeVante Parker (hamstrings). Old friend Kyle Van Noy suffers from a hand injury. Future quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (hip) was a full participant, but Ryan Fitzpatrick will start for Miami on Sunday.
