Pascarella’s hat trick lifts men’s soccer over Kean
EWING, NJ — The TCNJ men’s soccer team held an offensive clinic Wednesday night en route to defeating defending champion NJAC Kean University by a score of 5-2.
Junior Luke Pascarella paved the way for the Lions victory tonight with a hat-trick. He scored two goals in the first half and one in the second.
The first goal came for Pascarella after just six minutes when Justin Dominique was fouled in the area. The Lions opted for Pascarella to take the PK and he knew how to capitalize.
The second hat-trick goal came in the 16th minute when Dominique sent a low pass across the right flank. Pascarella put in a shot on goal which was deflected by the goalkeeper towards him to send another shot, this time into the back of the net.
Pascarella’s last goal came in the 61st minute when Joseph Schlageter was able to get in front of a Kean player to cut the ball off and pass to Pascarella. He sent a missile from the 25-yard line hovering over the jumping goalie and into the back of the net.
A pair of freshmen, david anderson and Massimo Rodio would nail on the other two goals to complete the Lions score. Tonight’s goal for Anderson is the first of his career as a Lion.
TCNJ scored five goals on nine shots compared to two goals on 16 shots for the Cougars.
Wednesday’s victory marks the first for the Lions at Kean University since 2013.
The TCNJ men’s soccer team is back in action with another NJAC game this Saturday at William Paterson from at 1:00 p.m.
