But the truth is, many of the products that you see advertised as penis enlargement supplements just aren’t effective, and some can even put your health at risk.

Penis enlargement pills are advertised to help people with penises who are aware of their size. Most dietary supplements and pills are unregulated. This means that these supplements do not require approval from the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and do not have to prove that they are safe or effective.
If supplements aren’t regulated, it’s easy to list the wrong types or amounts of ingredients on the packaging, which can make it difficult to know how they will affect your health.

- Ginkgo biloba extract. This ingredient can affect the effectiveness of drugs that affect the nervous system (such as clozapine, alprazolam, olanzapine). And it can cause mood swings if taken with St. John’s Wort, fluoxetine, and melatonin.
People with heart problems or those taking medication for high blood pressure can experience dangerous drops in blood pressure causing:

There is also the risk that these supplements will damage the penis, affecting the size and function of the penis.
There are other methods and products on the market that claim to help increase penis size.
Here are some of the methods and products reported.
Like pills, lotions, or oils, use ingredients, like herbal vitamins and aphrodisiacs, to increase penis size. But these, like the pills, have been shown to be ineffective.
These lotions are not regulated and may contain hazardous ingredients. Some people may experience side effects from lotions that contain certain ingredients, such as menthol and gingko biloba extract.
These side effects include:
- allergic reaction
- burning sensation
Traction devices, also called penile extenders, are devices designed to be worn for an extended period of time. The main reason people can use a traction device is due to the shortening of the penis secondary to Peyronie’s disease.
The device is attached to your flaccid penis and worn for several hours each day. Traction devices use gentle tension to gradually stretch the penis.
Andropenis is an FDA approved device that can provide results for both length and girth. Another option in the market is RestoreX.
Penis pumps, also called vacuum pumps, are sometimes used to treat erectile dysfunction. It is considered an option for people who have had their prostate removed or who are not candidates for erectile dysfunction drugs, such as Viagra.
Vacuum pumps are sometimes advertised to increase penis size, and pumps can provide a temporarily larger size. However, vacuum pumps can damage the tissues or blood vessels in your penis, causing problems with future erections.
