Thor Bjornsson shows off sculpted six-pack abs in new workout pic
Hafthor Bjornsson has undergone a pretty incredible body transformation since leaving the world of competitive strength sports. After winning his tenth consecutive Iceland’s Strongest Man competition last year, Bjornsson (aka “The Mountain” thanks to his role in Game of thrones) retired in style and then set his sights on a whole new challenge: converting into a boxer.
The former strongman’s journey to the boxing ring, which he documented in detail on his YouTube channel, involved a complete overhaul of his training routine and scheduling his workouts around speed, precision and endurance as well as strength for which he was known. He also drastically reduced his food intake, from what would sometimes be 10,000 calories per day, to 4,000.
“I feel so much better than when I weighed 205 kg,” said Bjornsson Men’s health in November. “I’m obviously healthier, but I’m also more focused… When I had to force-feed myself every day, I was so tired. Now, I have withdrawn from this.
All of the hard work over the past year has paid off. While his long-awaited grudge match against rival and strongman-turned-boxer Eddie Hall had to be delayed after Hall suffered a loose bicep, Bjornsson won his boxing debut against Devon Laratt in the first round.
As 2021 draws to a close, Bjornsson captured what his body looks like right now in a shirtless post-run selfie that shows off the abs and v-cut he’s shredded all year:
