Watch four men talk candidly about sexual health
Guys are more mindful of their overall health and well-being than we typically give them credit for, but there’s still plenty of room for improvement. That’s what a recent survey revealed when Hearst Media (the parent company of Men’s Health) asked more than 1,500 men about their physical, mental and sexual health.
One thing that stands out from the results is this: only half of men who have had a sexual health problem have consulted a medical professional, and one-third of sexually active men surveyed say they are too embarrassed to talk about it. sexual problems with anyone, including a doctor.
Based on this discovery – and to begin to change this pattern – we invited four men who had never met before, aged in their early twenties to late fifties, to sit down and talk about the often uncomfortable subject of sexual health. We asked them some of the same questions we asked survey participants, such as, “Do you track your men’s physical health every year?” and “Have you ever heard of Peyronie’s disease?” and they shared honest answers. We even got them to react to some of the survey results. Their jokes were instructive and their responses surprising – and not as predictable as one might expect given their age.
This video shows an excerpt from their candid conversation. Observe and see if you agree or disagree with the group, and think about how you could have answered the same questions. Plot? To learn more about the survey and its results, read it here.
